Training about Chain of custody certification standards

With increased awareness of the importance of sustainable development, global forest issues becoming more prominent, and some consumers in Europe and the United States refusing to buy wood products without proof of legal origin, more and more companies are recognizing the value of advertising the FSC packaging they use or the FSC certified products they sell.

According to the FSC website, as of 2022, nearly 230,000 hectares of forest worldwide have been certified by FSC, accounting for more than 20% of the world’s commercial forestry land. More than 26,000 companies worldwide have obtained FSC certification and are engaged in the production and sale of various FSC certified products. FSC certified products have been found in more than 100 countries and regions around the world, with annual sales of more than $50 billion

On July 21, 2023, Opal invited Landy Liu, a professional and technical staff of TUV Sud Certification testing Agency, and TUV senior FSC auditor Joseph Zhao to do relevant explanation and training for all Opal merchandisers The content of the training includes what is FSC certification, the difference between the three COC certification qualifications, how to review the FSC certificate provided by the supplier, and some common problems analysis.

During the Q & A session. The merchandiser asked their own questions about this training, and took their own products as practical cases, so that Joseph Zhao could analyze and answer the questions in a more targeted way.

At present, many international brands and retailers have required their products and raw materials to use FSC certified trees, advocating that suppliers continue to move towards green and sustainable development. We in the training received is no longer a hollow concept, theory, but extremely valuable practical experience. This is helpful for us to choose high-quality suppliers for cooperation.
